Olufemi Akingbade
Past Acting Executive Secretary/CEO, NHIS
Olufemi Akingbade was until recently the Acting Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme in Nigeria. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science as well as a Masters in Business Administration was previously the General Manager, ICT in the NHIS. Prior to his role at NHIS, Femi had over 19 years experience in Information and Communication Technology mostly in the financial industry.
Mairo Mandara
Country Representative, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Nigeria
Mairo Mandara is the Country Representative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Nigeria. An obstetrician-gynecologist by training, Mairo works with the foundation’s Nigerian partners to help improve the lives of the country’s poorest people. Before joining the foundation, she served as a senior country advisor to Nigeria for the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and as the Nigeria-based health systems advisor for the Earth Institute at Columbia University.
Emeka Afigbo
Strategic Product Partnerships Manager, Facebook
Emeka Afigbo is a Strategic Product Partnerships Manager for Facebook focused on building, supporting and accelerating the product strategy of Facebook and its partners through partnerships and programs. Emeka has a passion for growing the tech ecosystem in emerging markets. Prior to Facebook, Emeka led Google developer community initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa as part of the Africa and Middle East Developer Relations team. He started his career as a software engineer at Socketworks and also spearheaded strategic initiatives at Parkway Projects both in Nigeria.
Muntaqa Umar-Sadiq
CEO, Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PHN)
Muntaqa Umar-Sadiq is the CEO of the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PHN) – a private sector led multi-sectoral coalition committed to improving the health outcomes. Until his appointment as the MD/CEO of the Alliance, Muntaqa was the Senior Technical Advisor to the former Minister of State for Health in Nigeria, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate. In this position, he was responsible for leading a number of healthcare reform programs, including unlocking the market potential of the private sector in healthcare across the value chain, National Health Insurance Scheme reforms and scaling up access to basic primary healthcare services, amongst others. Specifically, he co-authored the 2012 drug distribution guidelines for the FMOH and led the ministry’s efforts to streamline supply chain, logistics and drug distribution in Nigeria.
Akinwumi Fajola
Regional Community Health Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa, Shell Nigeria
Akinwumi Fajola is the Regional Community Health Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa at Shell Nigeria. He joined Shell in 2006, and has served in roles as Public Health Adviser and Industrial Hygiene Lead. He presently leads a vibrant and hardworking team in implementing innovative public health initiatives including the model Obio Community Health Insurance Program being implemented in collaboration with the Rivers state government and host communities. Prior to joining Shell, Akin served Country Coordinator of the Institute of Human Virology, University of Maryland, now IHV Nigeria, where he supported the commencement of the HIV/AIDS PEPFAR program in collaboration with the Government of Nigeria.

Ernest Madu is CEO and Chairman, Heart Institute of the Caribbean, Kingston, Jamaica. Ernest has had a distinguished career in clinical medicine and healthcare innovations. He is a pioneer in the development of healthcare infrastructure, health systems innovations and appropriate technology transfer to enhance quality and cost effectiveness of care in developing and low resource nations. He holds the academic rank of Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Imaging Technology and is respected globally for his contributions to cardiovascular medicine and health systems innovation. He is a leading expert in leveraging technology to bridge the access gap in quality healthcare delivery and has used his expertise in leading innovative and transformational healthcare projects in Africa and the Caribbean.

Ola Orekunrin
Founder, Flying Doctors Nigeria
Ola Orekunrin is the Founder Flying Doctors Nigeria, West Africa’s first and only full air ambulance service. Since then, she has successfully steered the company upwards in achieving its corporate goals and ensuring sustained growth, while saving many lives. She is extremely passionate about healthcare in Africa and works with various foundations, charities and governments to improve standards of healthcare. She has published two medical textbooks ‘EMQ’s in Paediatrics’ and ‘Pre-Hospital Care For Africa’ as well as articles in the British Medical Journal, New York Times and the Huffington Post. Ola is also a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and an editor of the Journal of Emergency medical services.
Oluseun Onigbinde
Founder/CEO, BudgIT
Oluseun Onigbinde is Founder and CEO of the public data visualization platform called BudgIT, which allows anyone to access information about the Nigerian government’s budget and expenditures. BudgIT is a civic organization that applies technology to intersect citizen engagement with institutional improvement, to facilitate societal change, redefining participatory governance. It allows all Nigerians to understand complex public data sets through infographics, interactive websites, and games.  Oluseun is also a consultant at DFID’s National Assembly Budget and Research Office (NABRO) and writes weekly columns for ScoopNG about budgets, national planning and human capital development.
Saidu Abdullahi
Public Sector Director, Oracle Nigeria
Saidu Abdullahi is Public Sector Director for Oracle Nigeria and oversees the company’s Abuja Operations. His role is that of working with public institutions including in the health sector to use technology in transforming their operations and processes. Saidu also worked at Microsoft Nigeria where he was responsible for Public Sector Business Development. Prior to this, he was President/CEO of Procentric IQ, a company that won ICT Company of the Year in Education for its work in Ekiti State implementing e-Learning for 100,000 students & 18,000 teachers. Mr. Abdullahi has worked with several other established, well-recognized multi-nationals in and out of Nigeria.
Oghogho Olakunri

Oghogho Olakunri is a Consultant with GE Healthcare Partners across the Eastern & African Growth Markets region. She is primarily focused on business development, implementing performance improvement projects, monitoring projects delivery impact, providing healthcare advisory services, managing projects and change transformation efforts with public and private sector clients. Oghogho has extensive experience in Management Consulting and Business Advisory. Her breath of industry experience spans the Health & Public Sector, Oil & Gas, Financial Services, Communications & Mobile Technology (CMT) and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs). Prior to Joining GE, Oghogho was a Senior Manager with Accenture Nigeria in the Resources, and Health & Public Sector Practices.
Nana A. Y. Twum-Danso Nana
Founder, MAZA
Nana A. Y. Twum-Danso Nana is the Founder of MAZA, a social enterprise that is establishing a transportation network to provide timely access to health care in rural Ghana. Before MAZA, Nana was a Senior Program Officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation where she shaped and managed grants to improve maternal and child health outcomes at scale. Prior to that, she led Project Fives Alive!, a nationwide quality improvement initiative that partnered the Institute for Healthcare Improvement with the two largest health service providers in Ghana to reduce child mortality. Nana received her undergraduate and medical education from Harvard University and her public health and preventive medicine training from Emory University.
Okey Okuzu
Entrepreneur
Okey Okuzu is a serial entrepreneur who identifies ways of improving healthcare delivery to underserved populations using emerging technologies. Okey founded InStrat Global Health Solutions in 2010 to focus on Global Health Innovation by deploying technology based healthcare solutions to underserved markets using SMS and 3G wireless technologies. In 2014, Okey Co-founded HealthCore Ltd., a suite of health information delivery products including The HealthZone TV show, Health Blog and the popular Med Minutes series. In 2016, Okey founded and launched VTR Mobile, Nigeria’s first full-service mobile phone/tablet training application. He is the lead adviser to MerDroits, a safe, judgement-free multimedia platform for sexual/reproductive health, rights, interactions and commerce.

Aschkan Abdul Malek

Aschkan Abdul Malek is CEO of AlemHealth. AlemHealth is a healthcare technology company that creates products that raise the quality of care available in frontier markets, at prices patients can afford. Prior to founding AlemHealth, Aschkan was the director of Altai Consulting’s Central Asia and Middle East practice, managing projects and teams throughout the region on mandates for USAID, DFID, the World Bank, UN agencies, and large multinationals. Aschkan combines a background in corporate finance and management consulting with 5 years of experience operating in places like Afghanistan and Iraq. Among other hobbies, he is an FIA-licensed racing driver.
Chibuzo Opara
Co-Founder, DrugStoc
Chibuzo Opara is the co-founder of DrugStoc, a healthcare IT and logistics platform, which improves access to quality pharmaceutical and healthcare products for healthcare facilities and pharmacies. DrugStoc is focused on eliminating counterfeit drugs within the pharma value chain, while improving the supply chains of health facilities and pharmacies across Nigeria. Chibuzo is a health economist, and has has worked for the European Union, the World Health Organisation, the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation. His work experience spans across different aspects of the healthcare system and across several countries including Netherlands, Nigeria, Belgium, Switzerland, Cameroun, Liberia, Kenya and Vietnam.
Lawal Bakare
Team Lead, EbolaAlert
Lawal Bakare leads EbolaAlert, an innovative web-based platform that was at the heart of Nigeria’s response to the Ebola outbreak in 2015. Lawal studied Dental Surgery at the University of Lagos where he grew his interest in technology and communications as they impact on health. Lawal currently implements models that strengthen the impact of health programmes using information technology. While EbolaAlert stands out as one of his best creations; he is also the founder of mychora.com, a technology service for dental care, is co-founder of Health by Design a marketing communications firm for healthcare as well as HEIT Solutions a health promotions company based in Lagos.
Simpa Dania
CEO, Sabaoth Technologies Ltd.
Simpa Dania is the CEO for Sabaoth technologies Ltd. Sabaoth Technologies Ltd. was incorporated with the principal focus of promoting and implementing information technology projects within the Nigerian healthcare domain. Their most prominent project is the development of APMIS: ALL Purpose Medical Information System (www.his.sabaothtechnologies.com), which is an innovative connected healthcare platform being implemented at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria’s premier and largest tertiary hospital of about 900 bed capacity and a staff strength of over 4000 and close to 1000 bed capacity. Within the telemedicine domain, he was responsible for the setup and development of the University College Hospital Ibadan Telemedicine Department.
Adam Thompson
Executive Director and Co-founder, eHealth Africa
Adam Thompson is the Executive Director and Co-founder of eHealth Africa. Adam has over 10 years of experience living and working across West Africa designing and leading innovative and context appropriate information and communication technologies. He leads eHA’s global health informatics team who design and develop software and technical tools to strengthen operations and enhance visibility.  His experience includes building response teams of over 300+ staff in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea in less than two months. He developed an emergency supply chain for Ebola virus lab sample that achieved a 24-hour turnaround on 100% of samples. He also spearheaded the developed vaccine trial program in Sierra Leone with the CDC. Prior to establishing eHA, he was an Associate Director for Programs and Instruction, Research Specialist at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Ime Asangansi
CEO, eHealth4everyone
Ime Asangansi is CEO of eHealth4everyone, a leading digital health social enterprise. Ime is a physician, health informatics specialist and software architect and has been actively involved in the design and development of a number of software systems, including the OpenHDS (Open-source Health and Demographic System). He is a consultant in the emerging fields of digital and mobile health, with a special interest in design, implementation and strategy. Previously, he was Country Director for the United Nations Foundation ICTs for Saving One Million Lives (ICT4SOML) project in Nigeria, where he led the Nigeria UNF team that supported the Government of Nigeria in drafting the National eHealth Strategic Framework.
